Gone with the Winds

This concert explores the unique sonorities of wind instruments, ranging from the pure sounds of a trio of wind instruments to a septet featuring a magnificent mixture of winds and strings. The program will include Beethoven’s Septet for Clarinet, French Horn, Bassoon, Violin, Viola, Cello, and Double Bass, regarded as a pioneer for this particular instrumentation; Martinů’s Trio for Flute, Violin and Piano; and Piston’s Three Pieces for Flute, Clarinet, and Bassoon. Featuring Music Department faculty members Eliko Akahori, piano; Fred Aldrich, french horn; Kathy Boyd, flute; Andrew Eng, violin; Mark Henry, double bass; Katherine Matasy, clarinet; Tracy McGinnis, bassoon; Jane Starkman, viola; Suzanne Stumpf, flute; and Rebecca Thornblade, cello.
