The Author of Being Wrong Shares Insights from Her Book

Wednesday, October 9, 2013 - 6:00pm
Location: Alumnae Hall Ballroom (101)

Being wrong might seem a counter-intuitive way to start one's college career, but not when approaching it as author Kathryn Schulz does. While it is important to celebrate our accomplishments, it is also important to understand that we are not infallible and that being wrong isn't the same as being bad. Kathryn Schulz, wrongologist and author of the book Being Wrong: Adventures in the Margin of Error, says it best:  The miracle of your mind isn't that you can see the world as it is.  It's that you can see the world as it isn't. Perhaps the source of our creativity and our potential lies in our moments of wrongness.  All new students received a copy of Being Wrong during the summer before their arrival.  It can be hard to accept -- let alone celebrate -- being wrong, but it is a crucial part of learning, and we invite all members of the Wellesley community to reframe the way they see errors.
