The International Body Music Festival, Wellesley College Music Department, and Berklee College of Music present, for the first time in New England, a week of unparalleled events with artists from Brazil, Bali (Indonesia), Las Canarias (Spain), and the U.S., featuring traditional and contemporary music made by the oldest instrument on the planet ? the HUMAN BODY!

Body Music Introductory Workshop
Friday, November 15, 4:00 to 5:30pm
(Alumnae Hall Ballroom, Wellesley)
Wellesley College Community, come to this free introductory workshop to see and learn traditional and innovative music made with the human body from these master artists from around the globe! No experience needed, but great for music dance, and theater students. Participants will have the opportunity to participate in Saturday evening's Opening Concert!

Supper Reception, Q/A, and Conversation with Artists

Friday, November 15, 6:00 to 7:30pm (Alumnae Hall Ballroom)

Eat and chat one on one with nine artists from all over the globe, and join a group q/a and conversation about their work. Open to all WC Community, whether or not you attended the workshop. (Includes students, staff, and faculty of Wellesley College, Berklee College of Music, Olin, Babson, and MIT),


Body Music in Boston: Opening Concert at Wellesley

A touring concert of traditional and contemporary Body Music from around the globe, featuring artists from the 2013 International Body Music Festival, comes to the intimate venue at Wellesley for the opening concert. From tundra to tropics, people snap, clap, step and sing artful music. BODY MUSIC ignites audiences with music you can SEE, dance you can HEAR. Kecak, Hambone, Zapateo, Saman, Stepping, Throat-singing, Beatbox ? it's the oldest music on the planet, and it's brand new. Artistic Director Keith Terry, pioneer of contemporary Body Music, brings you a deeply visceral, cross-cultural conversation that only the world's oldest instrument, the body, can reach."Mr. Terry and his colleagues in action is like visiting an Anatomical Carnival, where hands, feet, fingers, bellies, rumps and mouths engage in an endless musical ballet."
