Visiting Students

Each year, Wellesley College invites international students from partner institutions in various countries to participate in a Language Assistant Program.

Language Assistants are enrolled at the College as students and work simultaneously in the language departments. As students, they are required to enroll in at least one, or a maximum of two, credit-bearing courses at Wellesley College. Language Assistants may also enroll in courses at our local partner institutions. Depending on the department, Language Assistants may student teach a class or an occasional lesson, hold regular language tutorials, and organize cultural activities such as dinners, film series, and lectures.

Wellesley College provides on-campus room and board for the Language Assistants in one of the college residence halls or, in some cases, specially designed language houses. Financial arrangements vary from department to department, but may include tuition and fees, as well as health insurance costs.

Language Assistants play an important role at Wellesley College. Their presence benefits not only our students, but the campus community as a whole, by providing direct access to diverse cultures and world views.
