Clapp Library ReservesFor UsersReserves items are shelved in open stacks on the first floor of the library. You can search in the library catalog either by your instructor's last name or by the department name and course number. This search will bring up the entire list of materials that are on reserve for your course. Find the item that you want on the list, and then use the call number to locate the item on the reserve shelf. Borrowing Policies
For FacultyThe priority deadline for Spring 2010 Reserve requests is November 16. Requests received after this deadline will be processed within two weeks of submission. Choosing Reserve Materials Only material that is required reading for the entire class should be placed on reserve. Optional readings can easily be obtained through NExpress or ILL if Wellesley's copy is not available for your students. Library staff are happy to assist your students in placing these orders. Videos required for class or for scheduled showings during or outside of class may be made available through the Video e-Reserves pilot if requests are received before November 16. If the digitized version will not be available, the hard copy will be placed on reserve. Journal articles, e-books, book chapters, or unpublished material (such as your own lecture notes, or any other documents that you create on your own) should be submitted as e-Reserves. Use the Reserve List Submission Form to add physical copies of titles (including both books and videos) to your reserve list. The library only uses current courses for reserves, so you will need to submit lists at the beginning of every semester. At the end of the semester, all materials will be removed from the reserves, and the library will send a copy of the list to you for future reference. If you need help identifying materials from previous semesters, library staff can assist you. Please Note: items brought directly to the Knapp Desk or Science Office with a completed Reserve Reading List will be given priority over online lists needing to be retrieved from the stacks. If you have journal articles or book chapters, please use e-Reserves. If the library does not own the material that you need, please place an order using the online order form, and mark the item as "For Reserves". Placing the order yourself will expedite the process and ensure that the correct item is requested. If the library cannot order the item in time, you may place your personal copy on reserve temporarily. If you have experienced an unavoidable delay and a few items are needed urgently, please bring the library-owned items to the Knapp Desk, complete the Reserve Reading List form available there and be sure to note on it that this material is needed urgently. A staff member will process these items within 24 hours. Personal copies are far more complicated to process. Please speak to a Knapp staff member if you have any that need to be processed urgently.
