Blended Learning Initiative

Our Work

Over the past five years the Blended Learning Initiative, supported by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, facilitated blended learning projects for over fifty courses in the humanities and humanistic social sciences. The initiative encompassed the innovative use of technology in teaching, conversations about the use of technology to support close faculty-student relationships in a liberal arts environment, and the establishment of a long-term organizational support structure for blended learning at Wellesley College. Some activities that the grant supported include the development of new blended learning courses; the creation of blended learning content for existing courses; the organization of workshops, presentations, and round table discussions; funding for faculty conference travel as well as faculty stipends; student research assistance and the purchase of essential materials needed for course development; as well as assessment of the effectiveness of the integration of technology in blended learning courses.

Note that as of December 2019 the Mellon-funded Blended Learning Initiative has ended. Please contact David O'Steen for assistance with blended learning projects.
