LTS - Library Collections
As Collections Conservator, I support access to ideas and information for all members of the College Community by prolonging the useful life of needed research resources. I manage the Conservation Facility on the 4th floor of Clapp Library, which is responsible for the in-house maintenance of materials in the Clapp, Art, Music, and Science Libraries. We repair and treat the Library's circulating and reference collections; I also rehouse and treat Special Collections and Archives materials. The Conservation program ensures that all repairs are done in conformance with current best practice, as developed by recognized conservators and the American Institute of Conservators (AIC). Conservation has up to ten student assistants who perform repairs, rehouse materials, assist with stacks maintenance projects, and process journals and monographs for commercial binding at an outside bindery. Overall, I coordinate with staff across LTS to achieve the long-term stability of the diverse and rich physical collections held by the College Library.
