Eileen Hardy
Director of Library Collections

As Director of Library Collections I serve on the senior management team of the Library & Technology Services Department. I provide leadership in developing and managing the library’s collection resources, including budget development and forecasting, relations with donors and library consortia. I serve as Co-Chair of the Friends of the Wellesley College Library. I am head of the library Collections Group (LCG), which is responsible for the acquisition, description, maintenance, preservation and interpretation of library collections resources, Special Collections, and the Archives of the College. The LCG is also responsible for the management of the library system and direction of the Book Arts Program. The collections range in form from incunabula and manuscripts to print and digital books and journals; from rare books to databases; from music scores to tactile and streaming media; from artists books to data sets, photographs and student scrapbooks. This is a GREAT job!

My job has always been fun, but the transition of collections from analog to digital that started a decade+ ago has been especially challenging and rewarding. It’s been exciting to see how much digital content we can now place in the hands of our researchers – and a thrill to see our unique print collections digitized and made available to researchers worldwide!
