Clapp Faculty Studies

Guidelines for the assignment of Clapp Library faculty studies

(updated Jan. 23, 2017)

All faculty members, half-time or greater and including emeriti faculty, are eligible to apply for a Clapp Library study. Since there are a limited number of studies, assignments will be made according to the following priorities:

  1. Full-time teaching faculty with no other dedicated office space on campus (Mellon post-docs with teaching responsibilities and faculty on the phased retirement plan are considered full-time teaching faculty).

  2. Full-time faculty on leave with no other office space on campus and part-time teaching faculty with no other dedicated office space on campus.

  3. Emeriti faculty.

  4. If there are studies available after categories 1-3 have been served, studies will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Faculty can begin applying for study space on March 1 in the academic year before they will need the study, indicating if they would be willing to share a study. Studies will be assigned from August 15 to the following August 14. We would not normally be able to entertain requests for specific study spaces.

  5. In order to make the studies available to the widest range of faculty members, a current faculty member who has occupied a study for two consecutive years will normally have the lowest priority when study spaces are assigned (emeriti faculty excluded).

The form below should be filled out annually, by March 1.
