Recommendation:
- Use Firefox 19.0 (February 2013) for your web browser.
- Visit JavaTester.org to see what version of Java is installed. Click OK to any security warnings to run the Java applet. It should say you have Java Version: 1.6.0_45 which is the latest version for Banner ERP.

Known Browser Issues
- Firefox Error: Firefox displays an error when launching Discoverer Plus saying "This plugin has security vulnerabilities. Click here..."
- Windows Error: You upgraded to Java 7.
- Windows Error: Banner ERP displays a warning "Java has discovered application components..." [ Windows XP / Windows 7 ]
- Windows 7 Error : Your browser intermittently hangs when you launch Banner ERP (ie. you see a white window where Banner ERP should be loading.)
- Windows Error: Your browser asks for you to install a plug-in to use Banner ERP.
- General Error : You see an Access Denied page when you launch Discoverer.
- General Error : Discoverer Plus displays a white window with the text "Error. Click for details." [ Windows XP / Windows 7 / Mac OS ]
- Mac OS Error : Discoverer Plus is stuck showing a coffee cup for more than 20 seconds.
- Mac OS Error : Safari can't find the Java plugin or won't load Java applications.
Firefox Error: Firefox displays an error when launching Discoverer Plus saying "This plugin has security vulnerabilities. Click here to activate the Java(TM) Platform SE 6 U plugin."
Solution: Firefox changed its security settings, so this warning message will show up for all users running a version of Java that is not Java 7 Update 11. Clicking the icon will re-activate Java.
- Launch Discoverer Plus, and this screen will now show up first:
- Click the icon, and then Discoverer Plus will load as usual.
Windows Error: You upgraded to Java 7.
Solution: Uninstall Java 7 and re-install Java 6.
- Click on Start button in the lower left of your screen and select Control Panel.
- In the Control Panel's Category view, select Uninstall a program. In the Control Panel's Small/Large Icons view, select Programs and Features.
- Uninstall Java(TM) 7 Update X (where X is a number), if present.
- Uninstall any other versions of Java present.
- Go to the Java Downloads for All Operating Systems: Version 6 Update 45 page.
- Navigate to the Windows section.
- [Windows XP only] Click to download Windows 7, XP Offline (32-bit).
- [Windows 7 only] Click to download both Windows 7, XP Offline (32-bit) and Windows 7, XP Offline (64-bit).
- Quit all open browsers.
- Install download[s], following the one screen instructions.
Note: You may need to change settings in the Java Control Panel if you see a warning stating "Java has discovered application components that could indicate a security concern" the next time you launch Banner ERP.
Windows XP Error: Banner ERP displays a warning "Java has discovered application components that could indicate a security concern" and asks if you want to "Block potentially unsafe components from being run?"
Solution : Click No. This error occurs due to new features in the latest versions of Java regarding unsigned components. This error will be resolved in an upcoming Banner upgrade. If you would like to stop seeing this error, change the Mixed code security verification.
- Quit out of all open browsers.
- Click on Start button in the lower left of your screen and select Control Panel.
- Switch the Control Panel to Classic View if you are not already in this view.
- Open the Java Control Panel .

- Click on the Advanced tab.

- Expand the Security section.
- Locate and select Enable - hide warning and run with protections under the Mixed Code section. Click OK .

- Try launching Banner ERP again.
- If the problem persists, email Budget Support .
Windows 7 Error: Banner ERP displays a warning "Java has discovered application components that could indicate a security concern" and asks if you want to "Block potentially unsafe components from being run?"

Solution : Set the Java Console to Show console.
- Quit out of all open browsers.
- Click on Start button in the lower left of your screen and select Control Panel.
- Switch the Control Panel to View by: Small/Large icons if you are not already in this view.
- Open the Java Control Panel.
- Click on the Advanced tab.

- Expand the Java console section.
- Locate and select Show console . Click OK .

- Try launching Banner ERP again.
- If the problem persists, email Budget Support .
Windows Error: Your browser asks for you to install a plug-in to use Banner ERP.
Solution: The version of the Java plugin you have installed is older that the version your browser is willing to use. Install the latest versions of the Java plug-in.
- Go to the Java Downloads for All Operating Systems: Version 6 Update 45 page.
- Navigate to the Windows section.
- Click to download Windows 7, XP Offline (32-bit).
- [Windows 7 only] Click to download Windows 7, XP Offline (64-bit).
- Quit all open browsers.
- Install both downloads, following the one screen instructions for each download.
Note: You may need to change settings in the Java Control Panel if you see a warning stating "Java has discovered application components that could indicate a security concern" the next time you launch Banner ERP.
General Error: You see an Access Denied page when you launch Discoverer.
Solution : You need to resync your Datamart password with your domain password.
- Log in to MyWellesley.
- Use Banner Self-Service or Banner ERP to resync your password.
- Go to the Password Reset channel in either the Employment Services tab (for non-Budget users) or the Budget Services tab (for Budget users), and click on the link to update your Datamart password.
- If the problem persists, email Budget Support.
Windows XP Error: Discoverer Plus displays a white window with the text "Error. Click for details."
Solution : Turn on "SSL 2.0 compatible ClientHello format."
- Quit out of all open browsers.
- Click on Start button in the lower left of your screen and select Control Panel .
- Switch the Control Panel to Classic View if you are not already in this view.
- Open the Java Control Panel .

- Click on the Advanced tab.

- Expand the Security section.
- Locate and check Use SSL 2.0 compatible ClientHello format .

- Try launching Discoverer Plus again.
- If the problem persists, email Budget Support .
Windows 7 Error: Discoverer Plus displays a white window with the text "Error. Click for details."
Solution : Turn on "SSL 2.0 compatible ClientHello format."
- Quit out of all open browsers.
- Click on Start button in the lower left of your screen and select Control Panel.
- Switch the Control Panel to View by: Small/Large icons if you are not already in this view.
- Open the Java Control Panel.
- Click on the Advanced tab.

- Expand the Security section.
- Locate and check Use SSL 2.0 compatible ClientHello format .

- Try launching Discoverer Plus again.
- If the problem persists, email Budget Support .
Mac OS Error : Discoverer Plus displays a white window with the text "Error. Click for details." A popup may state that "The application failed to run."
Solution : Turn on "SSL 2.0 compatible ClientHello format."
- Quit out of all open browsers.
- Click on the Go menu from your Desktop and select Utilities .

- Open Java Preferences .

- In the Advanced area, scroll down to the Security section.
- Locate and check Use SSL 2.0 compatible ClientHello format .

- Try launching Discoverer Plus again.
- If the problem persists, email Budget Support .
Mac OS Error: Discoverer Plus is stuck showing a coffee cup for more than 20 seconds.
Solution : Change how Applets run.
- Quit out of all open browsers.
- Click on the Go menu from your Desktop and select Utilities .

- Open Java Preferences .

- In the General area, select In their own process in the Run applets area.

- Try launching Discoverer Plus again.
- If the problem persists, email Budget Support .
Mac OS Error: Safari can't find the Java plugin or won't load Java applications.
Solution: Apple released an update that disabled the Java plugin in Safari; this was to protect people who don't use the Java plugin against the Flashback malware. You will need to re-enable the Java plugin for Safari; instructions to do this can be found on Apple's support site.
