Windows XP Setup

Prerequisites:

• Request the correct Banner ERP security access
  Note: you will need to file a request for a Banner ERP account.
• Make sure you have the VPN Client/Administrative Firewall installed
  Note: a Firewall account is created for you during the account request process.  All Wellesley college provided computers have the VPN client installed.
• Make sure you have a supported web browser

Issues you may encounter:

Issue : Banner ERP displays a warning "Java has discovered application components that could indicate a security concern" and asks if you want to "Block potentially unsafe components from being run?"
Solution : Click No. This error occurs due to new features in the latest versions of Java regarding unsigned components. This error will be resolved in an upcoming Banner upgrade. If you would like to stop seeing this error, click here for instructions to change the Mixed code security verification .

Setup Instructions:

Section 1 : Install and configure the latest version of Java 6.
Note : you may already have the latest version Java 6 already installed.

If you wish to check on your Windows Computer, click on the Windows Start button, and select Control Panel. Select "Switch to Classic View" for XP computers and double-click on the Java icon. In the Java control panel's General tab, click on the About button to find out your current version of Java. If your version of Java is at Version 6 Update 31 or higher, you can skip steps 1-5; otherwise, please continue.

1. Go to the Java Downloads for All Operating Systems: Version 6 Update 45 page.
2. Navigate to the Windows section.
3. Click to download Windows 7, XP Offline (32-bit).
4. Quit all open browsers.
5. Install both downloads, following the one screen instructions for each download.
6. Click on Start button in the lower left of your screen and select Control Panel .
7. Switch the Control Panel to Switch to Classic Viewif you are not already in this view.
8. Open the Java Control Panel.
9. Click on the Advanced tab.
   
10. Expand the Security section.
11. Expand the General subsection under Security and check Use SSL 2.0 compatible ClientHello format.
    
12. Expand the Mixed Code subsection under Security and select Enable - hide warning and run with protections.
    
13. Close the Java Control Panel.

Section 2 : Launch Banner ERP

1. Double-click on the Admin Firewall icon on your desktop to authenticate to the firewall as usual.
2. Log in to MyWellesley and navigate to the Banner ERP tab.
3. Click on the Banner ERP icon in the Startup Instructions channel.
   
4. When the Verify Certificate screen appears, check Always trust content from this publisher. and click on OK .
   
5. After a slight pause the following windows appear while Banner ERP is loading. Welcome to Banner ERP!
   

Windows 7 Setup

Mac Setup

Prerequisites:

• Make sure you have a supported web browser

Setup Instructions:

Step 1 : Install the latest version of Java 6.
Note : you may already have the latest version Java 6 already installed.  

If you wish to check on your Mac Computer, click on the Go menu from your Desktop and select Utilities. In the Utilities window, double-click on Java Preferences icon.  In the General area, you should see that your Java's version should be "1.6.0_31" or higher. If it is, you can skip this step; otherwise, please continue.

• Select Software Update from the Apple menu.
• Install any updates related to Java. This may take several update cycles.

Step 2 : Launch Banner ERP

1. Click on the VPN Client icon in your Dock to authenticate to the firewall as usual.
2. Log in to MyWellesley and navigate to the Banner ERP tab.
3. Click on the Banner ERP icon in the Startup Instructions channel.
   
4. When the Verify Certificate screen appears, change Use System Settings to Always Trust and click on OK .
   
5. After a slight pause the following windows appear while Banner ERP is loading. Welcome to Banner ERP!
