MICROSOFT SYSTEM CENTER 2012 ENDPOINT PROTECTION

 

Microsoft System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection (SCEP 2012) is anti-virus software that has been licensed for use on College-owned Windows and Mac computers. College-owned Windows computers began transitioning to SCEP beginning in early 2013 and Macs are beginning Spring/Summer 2013.


Removing McAfee VirusScan (if currently installed, proceed below if not)

  1. Please use Google Chrome to download the file below.
  2. Make sure you are logged into your Wellesley College Google account so that you can download the installers below.
  3. Download and save the VirusScan Uninstall.command file
  4. Double click to run, and type in your password. You won't see it, but press return after typing it in anyways. You'll get the message "VirusScan has been successfully uninstalled.".
  5. Restart the Mac. 

 

Install System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection

  1. Please use Google Chrome to download the files below.
  2. Make sure you are logged into your Wellesley College Google account so that you can download the installers below.
  3. Download and save the System Center 2012 installer
  4. Double-click scep.i386-x86_64.ed.0.dmg to mount and start the System Center 2012 installer. (You may have to double click it again on the desktop or in your Finder to begin the install process.) 
  5. In the System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection window, double click Install
  6. Click Continue when prompted with "The packager will run a program to determine if the software can be installed."
  7. Click Continue when prompted with "Warning!" McAfee was removed in the previous section.
  8. Click Continue when prompted with "Important Information"
  9. Click Continue when prompted with the "Softwarte License Agreement" and then click "Agree".
  10. Click Continue when prompted with the "Privacy Statement".
  11. Click Continue with the "Typical" installation mode selected. Click Continue if it detects McAfee Security. 
  12. Select "Enable detection of potentially unwanted applications" and click Continue
  13. Install for all users of this computer and click Continue
  14. Click Install.
  15. Close when the installation is successful.
