Installing PaperCut for Mac OS X
To install PaperCut on your computer so that you can print to the Comptuing Lab printers, please follow these directions. Once setup, you can print from applications like normal, then you will be prompted to login to PaperCut. After sending your job to PaperCut you may visit any of the Computing Labs and print your job from the Release Stations next to the printer.

Installing the PaperCut Client
- Download the PaperCut.dmg file from this Google shared link. You must be logged into your Wellesley Gmail account to download this file.
- Mac OS X 10.5 users, please also download the HP LaserJet 602 driver.
- Double-click on the PaperCutOSX.DMG disk image.
- In the PaperCut Client OS X disk image folder, double-click on client-local-install.
- If you receive the error message "client-local-install can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer", please click here for the fix at the bottom of this page.
- If you are prompted to open the application, click Open.
- Click Yes in Install PCCLient into the Applications Folder? window.

- The PaperCut client will now be copied to your Mac’s Applications folder.
- After the client has been copied, it will automatically launch. In the login popup window, log in with your Wellesley account and password.
- After logging in, you will see the PaperCut client window appear in the top right of your screen.
- In the PaperCut Client OS X disk image folder, double-click on install-login-hook.command
- In the Terminal window that appears, when prompted with “Prevent user from quitting the client” [YES or no]”, type no and press return.
- When prompted for the administrator password, enter the password that you use to login to the computer and press Return.
- When typing in your password, no text or *'s will appear on the screen indicating you are typing in your password.
- On slower computers, you may not see any progress for a few seconds.
- When you see [Process Completed], you may quit Terminal.
- PaperCut is now configured and will now start when you login to your computer.
- For Mac OS X 10.5 users, please do the following steps. Other versions of OS X can continue to step 2.
- Double-click on the HPLJM602-OSX10.5.dmg file you downloaded earlier to open the disk image.
- Open the disk image and double-click on the installer PKG file.
- Click through the installer, typing in your computer's login account when needed.
- When finished with the installer, continue to step 2.
- In the Apple menu, go to System Preferences > Print & Scan, or Print & Fax.
- In the left pane printer list, click the + at the bottom to add a new printer.
- Click on the IP option at the top of the new window and enter the following info:
- Protocol: Internet Printing Protocol - IPP
- Address: papertiger.wellesley.edu
- Queue: printers/community
- Name: Community
- Use: Generic PostScript Printer
- For OS X 10.5 users, in the Use field, select the HP LaserJet 600 Series M602dn printer.

- Click Add.
- In OS X 10.8, you may get an error message that the printer is not available, click Continue.
- At the Installable Options or Setting up Community window, check the Duplex checkbox and click OK.
Set the PaperCut printer to use Duplex as default
- Select File > Print to print a document.
- In the dialog box that appears, click on the Copies & Pages menu and select Layout .
- Under Two Sided Printing, check Long Edge Binding or Short Edge Binding .
- When you are finished selecting your print settings click Print .
- Open an application such as Word and go to File > Print .
- In the window, click on Copies & Pages and a drop-down list will appear. Select Layout .
- Under Two Sided Printing, check Long Edge Binding or Short Edge Binding .
- Click on the Presets pull-down menu and select Save As . In the window, type a name, such as duplex , to name the settings that you are saving.
- Click OK
While not required, you may wish to print a test page before printing a document, to make sure the settings are correct and that you can print to PaperCut.
- Open any application and print a document or website.
- Select Community as your printer and click Print in the application.
- The dialog window below will appear. Click Print.
- You will then recieve the popup below, stating your document is awaiting release. Click OK.

- You may now go to a Release Station next to one of the PaperCut printers and release your job to be printed.
Mac OS X 10.8 "Unidentified developer" fix
If you receive this error message while trying to install PaperCut on OS X 10.8, please follow the directions below to disable and re-enable the OS X 10.8 application installation security settings.
- Open System Preferences and click on Security & Privacy.
- Click on the lock in the bottom left of the window to make changes, and enter your computer's login password and click Unlock.
- Under "Allow applications downloaded from" select Anywhere, then click Allow from anywhere in the popup window that appears.
- Complete the PaperCut Client install directions above.
- Go back to this System Preference window, and set the "Allow applications downloaded from" setting back to Mac App Store and identified developers" and click Apply.
- Quit System Preferences.
