MS SCEP anti-virus information

Microsoft System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection (SCEP 2012) is anti-virus software that has been licensed for use on College-owned Mac computers. Previously, Wellesley College utilized McAfree VirusScan as its anti virus software. You may already have System Center on your computer. On Mac the green icon, , would be in your taskbar. If not, please click here for instructions on determining whether you still have McAfee VirusScan installed.

System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection uses the same industry-leading antimalware engine as Microsoft Security Essentials to protect you against the latest malware and rootkits. The engine protects against both known and unknown threats with a combination of highly accurate signatures and behavioral detection techniques. It has been highly ranked in independent third-party tests, such as those by AV-Comparatives and VirusBulletin, with special distinction for its low false positive rate.

Windows 10 machines should now be using Windows Defender Security Center, which comes preloaded on all College Windows 10 PCs.
