Student Workshops for Fall 2013

LTS is offering a series of workshops for Wellesley students. Other workshops may be scheduled as well. Please suggest other technology workshop topics which may interest you. Topics don't have to be related to classwork or projects.

 

 

All of these workshops will be in the Clapp Computing Classroom and attendance is limited to 12 students, unless otherwise noted.

 

Also, Demystifying the Printers!

Come to an open tutorial on how to use the new library/computing lab printers - Color and Black and White. Learn how to copy, print, staple and scan to email; print single and double-sided; report and/or troubleshoot problems.
 
Meet at the Clapp Service Desk for a 15 minute introduction to our new printers and have all of your questions answered.

Workshop Descriptions:

Gmail Basics - This workshop will cover the basics of Wellesley Gmail. Students will learn how to manage their email by creating multiple inboxes and using filters.

Google Apps - This workshop will present an overview of Wellesley Google Apps for Education. Students will learn how to manage calendars, drive, groups, and sites.

Photoshop Basics  - This workshop will cover the basic tools and interface of Adobe Photoshop CS6. Students will learn the basics of image editing and creating spam for your events.

Powerpoint Basics - This workshop will cover the basics of Microsoft Powerpoint. Students will learn the basics of creating Powerpoint slides, using animated text, and embedding multimedia.

Prezi - This workshop will cover the basics of Prezi. Students will learn the basics of Prezi’s 3-dimensional canvas, and how to organize, present, and share your ideas.

InDesign Basics  - This workshop will cover the basic tools and interface of Adobe Photoshop CS6. Students will learn the basics of image editing and creating spam for your events. Students will perform basic editing functions while becoming familiar with the InDesign user interface. Learn how to create print & digital publications such as brochures & newsletters.

Word Basics  - This workshop will cover the MS Word user interface and basic editing functions. Students will learn the program’s user interface and will learn all the basic editing functions needed to take a research paper from start to finish.

Word Intermediate  - This workshop will continue to cover the MS Word user interface and basic editing functions. Students will learn the program’s user interface and will learn all the basic editing functions needed to take a research paper from start to finish.

Blogging and Wordpress - Investigate blogging from the inside and out. Look at a wide variety of blogs. Take a tour of Wordpress, create a new site and become familiar with the dashboard.

Poster design - Learn the basics of planning, designing and creating research posters.
