Considerations & Critera

In selecting candidates for admission, the Board considers a number of factors, including:
- Secondary school transcript
- Letters of Recommendation (two from teachers and one from a guidance counselor)
- Admissions test scores (SAT I and two SAT II's, or the ACT with Writing)
- Essay
- TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
- Extracurricular Activities/Volunteer Work/Work Experience
- Personal Characteristics/Personal Qualities
- Leadership
- Class Rank
- Special or Unusual Talent
- Alumnae Relation
- Staff or Alumnae Interview
- Recommended distribution of courses taken in High School:
- 4 units of English
- 4 units of Mathematics
- 3 units of Science (2 of Lab Science)
- 4 units of Foreign Language
- 4 units of Social Studies/History
Note: Wellesley College does NOT have an "open" admission policy (a policy whereby the school will accept any student who applies).
