Checklist for Seniors
This checklist is designed to guide you through reviewing your academic record in preparation for degree completion.
- Review your online degree audit
- Know the degree requirements
- Submit the Intent to Graduate form
- Add up your units and verify your GPA
- Complete all distribution requirements
- Complete all additional requirements
- Confirm your major(s)
- Confirm your minor(s)
- Submit any transfer of credit
You should review your degree audit on MyWellesley several times each semester. This degree audit tracks your progress completing distribution requirements. Please note that the degree audit is refreshed on a nightly basis.
Know the degree requirements
It is your responsibility to know the requirements for a Wellesley degree and related policies.
We ask that all traditional and Davis seniors, regardless of academic standing, complete the “Intent to Graduate” form. The information you submit is used to begin your senior degree audit process. Your answers will inform our office about your final semester, your participation in the graduation ceremony, and how your name will appear on your diploma and in the commencement program.
Add up your units and verify your GPA

The Wellesley degree requires a minimum of 32 units of credit.It is important to review your earned units at the beginning of the fall semester and be sure you will earn at least 32 units.

Of your 32 units, you must take 16 units at Wellesley (MIT units are considered Wellesley units).

You may apply no more than two units toward the degree from the accumulation of fractional units through 1.25-unit courses taken at Wellesley.

A two-unit limit also applies to the accumulation of fractional units through Wellesley 0.5-unit courses.

Of the 32 units required for the degree, you must have at least 18 units outside any single department.

Students must maintain at least a C average in their last semester and as a cumulative average to be in diploma-grade standing.
Complete all distribution requirements
You must complete the following distribution requirements:

three units total (at least one unit from each distribution area) in Language and Literature and Visual Arts, Music, Theater, Film and Video;

one unit in Social and Behavioral Analysis and two units total from two of the following three distribution areas: Epistemology and Cognition; Religion, Ethics, and Moral Philosophy; and Historical Studies; and
-
three units total (at least one from each distribution area) in Natural and Physical Science and Mathematical Modeling and Problem Solving. At least one unit must be a laboratory unit.
Confirm your Major(s)
You must have at least one declared major and may opt to complete two declared major. It is your responsibility to verify your declared major(s) and notify the registrar's office, if you would like to drop your second major. You will complete a major confirmation with your academic department early in the fall semester.
Confirm your Minor(s)
You are not required to have a declared minor. You may have one major, a major and a minor, or two majors. It is not possible to declare two majors and also a minor, nor is it possible to declare a major and two minors. It is your responsibility to verify your declared minor(s) and notify the registrar's office, if you would like to drop your minor(s). You will complete a minor confirmation with your academic department early in the fall semester.
You should review your academic record and verify that any transfer credit (including study abroad coursework and Brandeis, Babson, and Olin cross-registration coursework) has been added to your Wellesley record. The deadline for all official transcripts for non-Wellesley coursework to be received by the Wellesley registrar's office is Friday, February 22, 2013.
