Codes of Behavior for Religious Groups On Campus
CODES OF BEHAVIOR FOR RELIGIOUS GROUPS
INTRODUCTION
The behavior of religious groups on campus sometimes causes problems, and many institutions have adopted policies and/or guidelines to regulate such behavior. This section contains three examples for your consideration:
The Code for Religious Organizations on the Wellesley College Campus includes a sample registration form for religious groups wishing to be active on the campus.
The University of Massachusetts, Amherst has provided its policy and guidelines on religious organizations.
The Association of Campus Religious Advisors at the University of Missouri-Columbia adopted By-laws that cover a broad range of policies. The association also created a Code of Ethics for its members. Finally, the association and the Department of Student Life distribute a document specifically targeted at dealing with “High Pressure Religious Groups,” originally created by the Office of Religious Affairs at the University of California, San Diego.
