Counseling Students on Spirituality
COUNSELING STUDENTS IN A MULTI-FAITH CONTEXT
INTRODUCTION
Information about student attitudes toward spirituality is becoming more readily available. Results of the long-term study on “Spirituality in Higher Education: A National Study of College Students’ Search for Meaning and Purpose” by the Higher Education Research Institute at UCLA can be followed on their website at http://www.spirituality.ucla.edu.
The article in this section documents a survey conducted at Goucher College. It gives us additional clues as to how students view the role of religion and spirituality in their lives, and provides some key conclusions and directions for working with students from a variety of religious backgrounds as well as those who consider themselves “spiritual but not religious.”
