All new students (including First-Year Students, transfer students, resident Davis Scholars and exchange students) will arrive on campus Monday, August 24, 2015 with the exception of International students and Athletes (special return dates will be communicated to these two groups of students). Residence Halls will open at 8:00 am. Any new student traveling to the Boston area prior to this date and time must make her own arrangements off-campus for accommodations. All new students may obtain keys in their assigned Residence Hall on August 24, 2015.
All Upperclasswomen may return to campus beginning Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 9:00 am. Any Upperclasswomen traveling to the Boston area prior to this date and time must make her own arrangements for accommodations.
*Please pick-up keys in your residential neighborhood during these hours:
Sat., Aug. 29 9:00am-7:00pm
Sun., Aug. 30 9:00am-6:00pm
***keys will be at Campus Police if you arrive outside of these hours
The neighborhood locations will be:
Tower Great Hall - for residents of Cervantes, Claflin, Lake House, Severance, and Tower
Beebe Hall living room - for residents of Beebe, Cazenove, Munger, Pomeroy and Shafer
Freeman Hall front desk - for residents of Bates, Cedar Lodge, Dower, Freeman, Hemlock Apartments, Homestead, Instead, McAfee, Orchard Apartments, Simpson West, and Stone-Davis
*Storage will open on August 29 and remain open until September 4.
RESIDENCE HALL STORAGE:
Information regarding the opening and cleaning of storage rooms will be posted in each Residence Hall. COLLEGE FURNITURE MAY NOT BE REMOVED FROM STUDENT ROOMS AND PLACED IN STORAGE AREAS. Students who remove furniture from their rooms will be fined.
NOTE: According to the Director of Environmental Health and Safety, no items may be deposited in Residence Hall corridors. Students must bring empty boxes and other items to properly marked locations. All items in the hallways will be discarded.
ROOM FREEZE AND ROOM CHANGES IN THE FALL:
Beginning on August 1, 2015, room freeze will take effect. Room changes are not permitted during this time, either within or between Residence Halls. Room freeze ends on Monday, September 14, 2015 for students in the classes of 2016, 2017, 2018 Room freeze ends for First Year Students on Monday, September 21, 2015. After the room freeze ends, students may change rooms with the approval of the Student Housing Office.
The first meal of the semester board plan for new students will be lunch on Monday, August 24, 2015. The first meal on the semester board plan for returning students will be lunch on Saturday, August 29, 2015. First meal on January 23, 2016 will be lunch.
PERSONAL PROPERTY INSURANCE:
Wellesley College does not assume responsibility for personal items belonging to students. We urge parents to refer to their personal homeowner’s insurance policy for possible coverage.
Returning students will receive information from their storage company regarding delivery dates.
END OF SEMESTER I:
ALL STUDENTS MUST VACATE THE RESIDENCE HALLS BY 5:00 PM ON Saturday, DECEMBER 19, 2015. The fine for failure to vacate by 5:00 PM is $50 per hour.
Bates, Freeman and McAfee Halls will open for Wintersession on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at12:00 (noon). Only students that have been approved for Wintersession housing will be allowed to return on Jan. 3.
Residence Halls will open for all students on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 9:00 am.
Reminder: Students who are graduating or going on leave for Spring Semester must vacate their rooms by 5:00 PM December 19, 2015; such students may not remain on campus for Wintersession. Only students returning from leave may return to campus during Wintersession. Newly accepted transfer or exchange students may not arrive for Wintersession.
