Research interests include 19th and 20th century Russian poetry, and contemporary Russian theater and political performance.
Molly Blasing holds an A.B. cum laude in Russian Literature and Culture from Harvard University and an M.A. in Slavic Languages and Literatures from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she is completing her PhD in Slavic with a minor in Second Language Acquisition. Her research interests include 19th and 20th century Russian poetry, the intersection of literature and the visual arts, contemporary Russian theater and political performance, and foreign language pedagogy. Her dissertation research examines the influence of photography on the poetic writing of three major twentieth-century Russian poets: Marina Tsvetaeva, Boris Pasternak and Joseph Brodsky. She has spent nearly three years living, studying and working in cities throughout western Russia, most recently as a Fulbright Fellow in Moscow in 2009-2010. Her teaching experience includes courses in Russian language, literature and culture at UW-Madison, the Davis School of Russian at Middlebury College, and Florida State University.
