Policy: It is the policy of Wellesley College to provide a safe and healthy workplace in compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) of 1970 and regulations of the Department of Labor including 29CFR1910.1450 "Occupational Exposure to Hazardous Chemicals in Laboratories". The full standard is available in the Science Center Office.

Purpose: The purpose of the Chemical Hygiene Plan is to describe proper practices, procedures, equipment and facilities for faculty, students, staff, and visitors in order to protect them from potential health hazards presented by chemicals used in the laboratory workplace, and to keep exposures below specified limits.
