About the Office of Intercultural Education

The mission of the Office of Intercultural Education is to promote the cultural competence development of students through intercultural activities and programs. It also provides support and advocacy for students of color and students who identify as LGBTQ+ through Acorns and Harambee Houses and the LGBTQ Programs and Services.

About Slater International Center

The Slater International Center was established by the benefactors Priscilla Allen Slater ’16 and her husband Ellis Dwinnell Slater in the 1970s to encourage greater understanding among all cultures through personal association and cooperative endeavor. Slater is the focal point for international activities on campus and a space for anyone in the community with the desire to increase intercultural understanding and establish global connections. It is a place where students from diverse backgrounds gather informally and create long-lasting friendships. Student organizations and academic departments use Slater International Center regularly for meetings, events, and cultural celebrations.

About the Office of Student Success

The Office of Student Success (OSS) serves to enhance and expand the support that is available to first-generation, underrepresented and underserved students at Wellesley College through a collaborative approach that leverages the strengths of dedicated campus partners to help students thrive. These partners form the “village” that the students can depend on to provide:

  • A sense of community and belonging

  • Holistic advising and counseling

  • Academic support

  • Mentorship

  • Career development

  • Co-curricular activities

The Office of Student Success reports to the Associate Dean for Inclusion and Engagement in the Office of Intercultural Education, as well as the Dean of Academic Affairs.

About LGBTQ+ Programs & Services

Wellesley is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for its lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, and intersex students.  The ready support by students, faculty, and staff of Wellesley’s large, active LGBTQ+ population is one of the most remarkable aspects of our multicultural community. Wellesley offers many informal mentoring and advising resources for its LGBTQ+ students and their allies.

The Stone Center, Wellesley’s counseling service, offers an LGBTQ+ support group discussion group as well as counselors trained in handling LGBTQ+ issues. The Cultural Advising Network includes an LGBTQ+ adviser, Q-Connectors and Wellesley’s LGBTQ+ student organizations.
