The Knapp Social Science Center at Wellesley College offers two main research opportunities: the Knapp Fellows Program which takes place over the course of the academic year, and the Social Science Summer Research Program, which takes place over the summer.
Knapp Fellows Program in the Social Sciences (KFP)
This program matches interested faculty members and students to work together during the academic year. One goal of the program is to introduce students to the challenges and excitements of scholarly life. We hope to attract a diverse set of faculty and student participants from across departments and programs whose members have broad interests in the social sciences.
Students are compensated for their work during the semester. All class years are eligible.
Summer Research Program in the Social Sciences (SSSRP)
The SSSRP at Wellesley College offers students a unique opportunity to conduct research in a variety of social science disciplines under supervision of faculty experts in that field. As part of this full-time position, fellows attend workshops on the use of technology and participate in seminars where faculty and students present their work. The program cumulates in a poster presentation where student researchers can share their work with other fellows and faculty.
Students receive a stipend plus an allotment for housing. Rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors are eligible but preference may be given to rising juniors and seniors.
