Welcome to your senior year, Class of 2022!

Gathered here is a great deal of useful information for seniors, including information about finishing your degree and participating in Commencement. Plan to check back frequently as we add to this material over the year, and let Dean Cohen know if you have questions or suggestions about other topics to include.

 

September

September 8: Convocation

Convocation

The Convocation ceremony on Wednesday, September 8th formally opens the academic year.  More information about Convocation will be posted soon.  

 

Thomas J. Watson Fellowship Information Session - offered by Career Education

Note:  The Daniels Fellowship Application is due. 

The Jerome A. Schiff Fellowship Application is due.

Please note the following important deadlines. The Registrars office has more detailed information for you to read.

  •  Friday, September 4 at11:59 pm:    Deadline to ADD a Term 1 course
  •  Tuesday, September 8 at 4:00 pm:  Deadline to submit SPRING & SUMMER 2020 incomplete work   to instructors.
  •  Friday, September 11 at 11:59 pm:  Deadline to DROP a Term 1 course

 

Date yet to be determined:   Senior Graduation Form will be open to complete:  This is an important form which you will use to identify and acknowledge your final Wellesley semester, and share plans for participation in Commencement.

    The Senior Graduation Form AND the Major/Minor Confirmation Form are usually due by the mid-October.   Look for an email from your class dean. 

     

    November

    Cross Registration for Spring: Please be sure to read the Important information regarding Cross Registration in your final semester and how it may affect receiving your diploma on Commencement day and how it may affect your graduation date.

     

    Friday, February 4 at 11:59 pm:   Deadline to ADD a Spring course 

    Friday, February 18 at 11:59 pm: Deadline to DROP a Spring course.  Deadline to declar Credit/Noncredit grading option

    Monday, February 21: No Classes (President's Day)

    Tuesday, February 22: Substitute Day - follow Monday schedule

    • TBD: Deadline to submit MIT paperwork to the Wellesley Registrar's Office
    • TBD: The last day for Seniors to add a program (Major/Minor). Your Senior Declaration/Senior Confirmation needs to be submitted and approved by this deadline via the Major/Minor Application at: MyWellesley > Administrivia >Major/Minor Declaration & Confirmation. If you are no longer pursuing a Major or Minor please click on the “detail” button next to your Major, scroll down and click on “Drop Declaration“ button. If your Senior Major/Minor confirmation is now approved and you are substituting spring courses, there is no need to update your form. It is important that you check with your Major/Minor Advisor to ensure that the substituted course will indeed complete your Major/Minor Program(s).

    Transfer of Credit Approvals & Transcripts:  

    • TBD: The last day for the Registrar's Office to receive an official transcript for any approved transfer credit requests. Be sure that your transfer of credit application has been approved by the department. Track the status of your request using the transfer credit request app. If you have previously submitted a transfer of credit request and you did not complete the course or do not need it approved to complete your requirements, please cancel your request(s) in the application below. 
    • Important: If you think that you will have a problem meeting this deadline please contact your Class Dean immediately.
    • You may check the status of your request or cancel your requests at: MyWellesley > Administrivia >Transfer of Credit Requests
    • If you see a Transfer Credit course is missing on your record and/or is missing a distribution and the hosting institution has sent us a transcript, please contact us at registrar@wellesley.edu immediately.

    Study Abroad Transcript for Fall 2021 Term: In most cases, your program or hosting university/college will send Wellesley College (Office of International Studies (OIS) an official transcript automatically. However, as a senior you should contact your program directly and ask them if they can expedite the process so we have your transcript by March 1st. Once we receive the transcript, OIS will evaluate the credit values. Your transcript will be forwarded to the Registrar’s office for posting after you submit your study abroad survey using Abroad 101.com. Please note, you do not need to fill out a Transfer Credit Request form for a Study Abroad course that has an equivalent subject/department at Wellesley, falls under the category liberal arts and for which you do not wish to request distribution, major or minor credit. Submit a Transfer Credit Request Form if you wish to count the course toward an unmet distribution or major/minor requirement. Asking for approval for multiple requirements that you have already completed may delay your form as it sometimes requires review by multiple department chairs.

    Senior Portraits for the  2021 Legenda Yearbook

    Portraits will be taken in business attire, and cap & gown.  Academic attire will be provided.

    Pre-order a hoop for Hoop Rolling! 

    Each hoop costs $20 and The office of Student Involvement & Leadership will order as many as are requested. If you don't preorder a hoop before the deadline, it is unlikely that they will be able to provide one for you. All requests are due by a date in early March (yet to be determined) AND you must pay for them by a date yet to be determined if you wish to receive a hoop! The Office of Student Involvement will let you know when they have arrived in early April :-)

     

    March

    Spring Break!

If you don't preorder a hoop before the deadline, it is unlikely that they will be able to provide one for you. All requests are due by a date in early March (yet to be determined) AND you must pay for them by a date yet to be determined if you wish to receive a hoop! The Office of Student Involvement will let you know when they have arrived in early April :-)

    Commencement speech submissions are due early April. See the Commencement Resources section for rules and requirements.

    Traditionally, one senior addresses the graduating class and their guests during the Commencement ceremony.  The process for applying to be the senior speaker occurs in the spring and includes the following general steps: 

    • Write a speech, about 5 minutes long (2-3 typed pages, double-spaced), sharing your thoughts about your class and your years together at Wellesley. The speech should not include your name or any other identifying pieces of information.
    • Submit the speech in pdf format, with separate cover sheet that includes your name, email address and title of speech, via email to advising@wellesley.edu by a date yet to be determined.  

    A committee of class council members, faculty members, and Dean Black will read the speeches and select finalists, who will be invited to present their speeches to the committee.  The committee will then make a final selection by late April.

    April

    Monday, April 18: No classes (Patriot's Day)

    Wednesday, April 20: Honors theses due at noon

    Tuesday, April 26: Ruhlman Conference No Classes

    Wednesday, April 27: Substitute Day.  Follow Tuesday schedule

     

    Senior Speaker

    Friday, May 6: Spring classes end.  Deadline to WITHDRAW from a Spring course at 5:00 pm

    Saturday, May 7 - Monday, May : Reading period 

    Tuesday, May 10 - Friday, May 13: Final Exams 

    Saturday, May 14 - Sunday, May 15: Additional Reading period

    Monday, May 16: Final exams end at 4:00 pm.  Final papers due by 4:00 pm

    Friday, May 27: Commencement

     

    Please note the following important deadlines which determine whether your diploma will be available to you on May 27, 2022.  The Registrars office has more detailed information for you to read.

    • Before withdrawing from a course it is important for you to speak with your Class Dean to verify that it won't affect your graduation plans.
    • TBD -- Final grading deadline for MIT Courses in the Final Semester.
    • TBD -- if your official grade in a cross-registered course is received by this extended grade deadline, you will receive a May Diploma. Your record will be reviewed for degree completion after Commencement and if your degree requirements are complete, we will mail your diploma to you.

    • TBD  -- If your official grade is received after this extended grade deadline, you will not be eligible for a May diploma. Your record will be reviewed in September and your graduation date will be October 2022. Once your grade is received and your record is certified, we will provide you with a letter that states your degree requirements are complete and your degree will be conferred in October. This letter is helpful for both employment and graduate school admissions purposes.

     

    June

    Please note the following important deadlines which determine whether your diploma will be available to you with a May, 2022 graduation date:

    • TBD -- if your official grade in a cross-registered course is received by this extended grade deadline, you will receive a May Diploma. Your record will be reviewed for degree completion after Commencement and if your degree requirements are complete, we will mail your diploma to you.
    • TBD  -- If your official grade is received after this extended grade deadline, you will not be eligible for a May diploma. Your record will be reviewed in September and your graduation date will be October 2022. Once your grade is received and your record is certified, we will provide you with a letter that states your degree requirements are complete and your degree will be conferred in October. This letter is helpful for both employment and graduate school admissions purposes.
