Navigating Sophomore Year

Sophomore year brings thoughts about choosing a major, studying abroad, seeking future internships, and perhaps pursuing new leadership opportunities. As your Class Deans, we are delighted to be able to get to know you better as you continue your Wellesley journeys. Whether you are on campus or elsewhere, we are available to meet with you, guide you through important academic decisions, and help you connect with other resources that you may find useful.

As you learned last year, academic deadlines are very important to take note of at the beginning of the year. Visit the Wellesley College academic calendar for more information on deadlines throughout the year.

Take a look over the Office of International Study website to learn more about study abroad programs, how to apply, and how to seek additional guidance.

Wellesley Career Education is a fabulous resource for you to explore in sophomore year. You will also find information on summer internships here; some opportunities have Fall application deadlines so make sure to take a look!

During sophomore year, you will officially declare your major! Learn more about the major declaration process and timeline here. Curious about minors, too? This page will guide you.

As you begin to conceptualize your future plans, learning about Wellesley academic requirements and understanding how they apply to your academic record is paramount. The Workday Academic Progress Report (APR) is an invaluable tool that displays which requirements you have completed, and which ones you still need to plan for. Try navigating to this living document in your Workday account before making an advising appointment. Some of your questions might be answered!

You are not on this journey alone, in life or at Wellesley.  Your class dean will be there for you every step of the way to make sure that you have the individual attention & support you need to realize your goals.
