Lissa Muscatine
Lissa Muscatine is co-owner of Politics and Prose Bookstore in Washington, DC.

Before acquiring the store with her husband, Bradley Graham, in June 2011, Lissa spent her professional career in journalism, politics, and government. She most recently served in the Obama Administration as Director of Speechwriting and Senior Advisor to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. She was a senior advisor on Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign and played an unofficial advisory role during the 2016 presidential campaign. During the Clinton Administration, Muscatine served as a Presidential Speechwriter, Chief Speechwriter to the First Lady, and later as Director of Communications to the First Lady and Deputy Assistant to the President. She was co-collaborator on Hillary Clinton’s White House memoir, Living History. Prior to working in government, Muscatine was a journalist at The Washington Post, The Washington Star, and the Delta Democrat-Times. She is currently working on a book to be published by Penguin Press entitled, Hillaryland. A native of Berkeley, California, she received a B.A. in history from Harvard University and was among the first class of women elected Rhodes Scholars. At Oxford, she studied at Wadham College. She and her husband currently reside in Bethesda, Maryland. They have three grown children and a beloved rescue dog named Kimmy.
