Doug Hollett
Mr. Hollett currently advises on energy strategy and policy, and technology innovation for a variety of private and government clients.
His diverse background includes renewable energy R&D, oil and gas development and exploration, the public and private sectors, and both U.S. and International projects. He has experience working in 32 countries.
 
Doug retired from the U.S. Department of Energy in October 2017 as Acting Assistant Secretary for Fossil Energy. This portfolio included responsibility for U.S. research in clean fossil energy systems, as well as the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, LNG export authorizations, and the National Energy Technology Laboratory. 
 
From 2014-2016, Doug was Deputy Assistant Secretary for Renewable Power leading research in Solar, Geothermal, Wind and Water technologies as well as grid modernization related to these sectors. He was Director of the Geothermal Technologies Office from 2011-2014.
 
Prior to joining DOE in 2011, Doug had over 30 years in the oil and gas industry, most recently with Marathon Oil where his responsibilities included Manager and Director, Unconventional New Ventures; Manager International New Ventures; and General Manager and VP, Atlantic Canada. 
 
Mr. Hollett has a MS in Geology from the University of Utah (’79), and a BA in Geology/Music Minor from Williams College (’76).
