Elizabeth Stoycheff
Elizabeth Stoycheff, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor and affiliate faculty for the Center of the Study of Citizenship at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.

Her research examines the role of new media in democratization and authoritarianism, including how online censorship and surveillance impact governance structures around the world. She has investigated the digital origins of the Arab Spring, media coverage surrounding Russia’s annexation of Crimea, mass monitoring and data collection in the U.S., and global concern related to disinformation. Her work has appeared in flagship publications, including Journal of Communication, Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly, and the International Journal for Public Opinion Research; it has also been featured in The Atlantic and The Washington Post.
