Grégory Pierrot

Grégory Pierrot is an Assistant Professor of English at the University of Connecticut specializing in Black Studies. He grew up in the French city of Metz before moving to the United States. He holds a Ph.D. in English from the Pennsylvania State University. His research explores matters of race and nation in the Black Atlantic. He has published work on the Haitian Revolution and its global cultural impact, co-editing with Paul Youngquist Marcus Rainsford’s An Historical Account of the Black Empire of Hayti. He is currently the review editor for H-Haiti, and a co-editor for the upcoming Anthology of Haitian Revolutionary Fictions (Marlene Daut, general editor). He has published a translation of Philippe Carles and Jean-Louis Comolli’s classic treatise Free Jazz/Black Power. He is currently working on a monograph, The Black Avenger Trope in Atlantic Culture.
