Daria Osipova ’20

Daria Osipova
Daria is a junior majoring in Political Science, with an interest in Russian politics and the U.S – Russia relations.

She has spent the past two summers assisting History Professor Nina Tumarkin with her research on Russian historical memory. By monitoring Russian media and government statements on the country’s troubled past, she explored the many ways in which Russian people and political elites grapple with their post-Soviet legacy. On campus, Daria serves as a student assistant for the Russian Department and is a member of MIT ballroom dance team. Since last spring she has also been involved in a research study on foreign language extracurricular activities at Wellesley College conducted by Senior Lecturer in Russian language Alla Epsteyn. Daria grew up in Yakutsk, Russia, and is a native Russian speaker, but she also speaks conversational Korean. In the future, she hopes to work for think tanks that deal with foreign policy analysis.
