Deborah  Banketa
Deborah is a junior majoring in International Relations and History with a concentration in Africa and interest in International Security, African Geopolitics, and International Law.

In the spring of 2022, she studied abroad at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, Switzerland where she had the opportunity to do research on International Arbitration Solutions for the GERD Dam Dispute between Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia. On campus, Deborah is the President of Awaken the Dawn, the only Christian acapella group at Wellesley, and she works as a student assistant for both the Music Library and History Department. In both the summer of 2021 and 2022, she served as the Director of the EEBC Student-Led Summer Camp dedicated to serving 2nd-9th grade first-gen immigrant students from Ethiopia and Eritrea. After graduation, Deborah hopes to work/intern in international security before continuing her education either through law school or a graduate program.
