Mariya Patwa
Mariya is a junior majoring in Chemistry with a minor in Health and Society.

She is currently the treasurer of the South Asian cultural organization and works in an organic chemistry lab focused on diabetes research on campus. Last winter she organized a trip to Guatemala to volunteer as with a non-profit organization serving indigenous populations around the central lake, Lake Atitlan, specifically focusing on healthcare and family aid. The opportunity abroad was also to serve as a translator; she speaks English, Spanish and Gujarati. Over the summer she has volunteered in the emergency room of her local hospital and trained as a clinical assistant in a medical office to gain exposure to the career in medicine that she plans to pursue. Next semester she will begin the application process for 2016 entrance into medical school after graduating.
