Yasmin Afifi
Yasmin is a junior majoring in Computer Science and Cinema & Media Studies, with a particular interest in international development.

In the summer of 2020, she worked as a Media Intern for the IDIN-SADC Consortium, an international grassroots development and innovation network. There Yasmin collaborated on research and strategy building for the start-up's branding and studied management theories for NGOs. Previously, she volunteered in Kenya to promote menstrual education and access for young women using a curriculum designed in her MIT D-Lab Gender & Development course. As an Egyptian-American, Yasmin also has a deep interest in the culture and development of the Middle East & North Africa region. In addition to speaking Egyptian Arabic fluently, she also has a working knowledge of German and serves as the Publicity Chair for the Wellesley Arab Women Association (WAWA). In the future, Yasmin hopes to pursue opportunities that combine her care for international development with technology and media production to influence, empower, and connect people across geographic limits.
