Current Faculty Research: Professor Cassibry at the Metropolitan Museum of Art during her 2013-2014 sabbatical.

Professor Cassibry at the Metropolitan Museum of Art during her 2013-2014 sabbatical.

As a fellow at the Metropolitan Museum of Art during her 2013-2014 sabbatical, Professor Cassibry researched the entanglement of Celtic, Greek, and Roman art in ancient France.  Typical days included researching and writing in her office at the museum’s Watson library; walking into the ancient galleries to check details of Celtic coins, Gallo-Roman enamelware, and Greek and Roman glass cups and marble statues on display; lunch in the staff cafeteria with curators and other fellows to discuss current work; and appointments in curatorial offices to look closely at artworks not on display and at the “object files” detailing the history of acquisition and study.
