Katy Ryan is the Career Community Advisor for Education, Nonprofit & Social Impact. Katy is a proud Seven Sisters alumna, receiving her B.A. from Smith College in Women & Gender Studies. She went on to earn a Masters of Urban Planning from the University of Michigan where she worked on community-based planning projects in cities such as Ann Arbor, Cleveland, and Toledo. Katy continued her studies through a Geography PhD program at Rutgers University where she researched creative climate change adaptation, focusing on the power of art, dance, and emotion to inspire social transformation. After two years of doctoral study, Katy left academia to begin a career in higher education administration. Even within her circuitous and surprising career journey, an interdisciplinary approach to community-based planning and learning has always been at the heart of what she loves to do. She is thrilled to share her experience as she builds the Education, Nonprofit, and Social Impact community, and eager to support Wellesley students and alums as they explore opportunities that enable them to pursue purpose-driven work.
