Paper Saver: Alumnae Career Conversation with Mary French ’09, Book Conservator (Recorded Talk, April 2018)

Mary French '09 is Assistant Book Conservator at the Northeast Document Conservation Center, the first independent laboratory in the United States to specialize in the conservation and preservation of paper- and film-based collections. Mary has worked in the field of book conservation since 2006. She earned an MA in Conservation Studies at West Dean College, West Sussex, England, and a BA in Medieval & Renaissance Studies and Psychology at Wellesley College. She previously held positions at the Cambridge University Library, Cambridge, England, and Harvard Business School’s Baker Library. Her specialties include contemporary and historic binding structures, leather, parchment, and unbound paper materials. Mary is a Professional Associate of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works.
