Technology Internships for First Years and Sophomores
While it is true that many internship opportunities are geared towards students in their junior year, an increasing number of companies are creating first-year and/or sophomore-focused internship programs. Please note that this is certainly not an exhaustive list, and there are a number of additional companies that may not have first-year/sophomore specific programs, but that are first-year/sophomore-friendly.
Law School — College Certification
Many law schools require that a dean's or college certification or questionnaire be completed by the applicant's undergraduate institution. This certification typically requests the applicant's class rank, status on physical or emotional health, and information on matters of discipline during the undergraduate years.

National Institutes of Standards & Technology Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (NIST SURF) (students)
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) offers Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships (SURF) at NIST laboratories in Gaithersburg, MD, and Boulder, CO. The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship is designed to inspire undergraduate students to pursue careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) through a unique research experience that supports the NIST mission. Eligible are currently enrolled undergraduates who are US citizens or permanent residents, majoring in chemistry, computer science, physics, engineering, materials science, fire research, nanotechnology, information technology, mathematics, biology, manufacturing, statistics, or another STEM discipline.
Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship (students)
Supports one or two years of undergraduate study in the fields of mathematics, engineering, and natural sciences. Eligible are college sophomores or juniors who are US citizens, permanent residents, and nationals intending to pursue research careers in STEM fields. Campus application deadline typically in late November/early December.
Resources for Underrepresented Students and Alumnae Applying to Health Profession Schools
A crucial topic in healthcare today is how to eliminate inequities in the quality and availability of medical care for ethnic, racial, social, and economic minorities. There is an urgent need to increase both the diversity and cultural competence of our health care workforce.
Churchill Scholarships (rising seniors & alumnae)
Supports one year of graduate study (including one-year research degrees) in science, mathematics, or engineering at Cambridge. Eligible: graduating seniors and recent alumnae of Wellesley College who are US citizens with majors in appropriate STEM fields. Campus application deadline typically in early October.

Immigrant Justice Corps Community Fellowships - expected direct application deadline
Eligible: applicants must be eligible for work authorization in the U.S. for the full two years of the fellowship (DACA recipients are welcome to apply to Immigrant Justice Corps, and comprise a significant percentage of the Fellows named each year). They must speak another language in addition to English (Spanish is in the highest demand, but Fellows who speak Mandarin, Haitian Creole, French, Arabic, Korean, and Urdu have been named). You may apply as a college senior or during the year after graduation (in spring 2023, members of the classes of 2021, 2022, and 2023 are eligible to apply).
Each year Immigrant Justice Corps awards two-year Community Fellowships to exceptional seniors and recent college graduates with the linguistic skills, passion, and cultural competency to work with diverse immigrant communities. IJC trains Fellows to be experts in immigration law and advocacy. Community Fellows conduct outreach, screen, and aid immigrants with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (“DACA”), Temporary Protected Status (“TPS”), Green Card, citizenship applications, and more.
