Student employees are essential at the Davis!

Department Assistants

Throughout the academic year, Wellesley students work closely with museum staff members in the Curatorial, Education, Digital Media and Collections Care departments of the Davis Museum, learning how an academic museum operates.

Student Visitor Assistants

The Davis Museum Student Visitor Assistants (SVAs) are hosts who ensure that all visitors have a safe, enjoyable, and educational experience. An active presence in the galleries, SVAs share their knowledge about the works of art, and educate all visitors about the museum guidelines. The SVAs help protect the works of art, and play an active role in the emergency response plan.

Student Guides

Student Guides research, develop, and lead their own tours on special exhibitions and the permanent collections using inquiry-based touring strategies to facilitate visitor experiences with art. Student Guides will also assist with both in-person and virtual public programs at the Davis and may have the opportunity to create pre-recorded videos.

Davis Museum Student Advisory Committee (DMSAC)

The Davis Museum Student Advisory Committee (DMSAC) is composed of Wellesley students who serve as an advisory board for all aspects of the Davis including (but not limited to) exhibitions and programming. DMSAC members are enthusiastic liaisons to the student body who encourage the Museum’s interdisciplinary function, promote the Davis as an educational resource, and increase student participation and museum visitation.

Summer Internship

The Davis Museum Summer Internship, available to current Wellesley College students, provides a paid opportunity for students to gain broad exposure to museum operations, acquire an overview of museum practices and policies, and gain marketable professional skills and experience. Summer interns have a vital role at the Davis and work on meaningful projects that have a direct impact on the museum.

Liliane Pingoud Soriano ’49 Curatorial Fellowship

This exchange program between the Davis and the Ecole du Louvre allows a graduating Wellesley senior to work for four months as a research Fellow at the Musée du Louvre in Paris. In addition to working at one of the world’s great museums, the Soriano Curatorial Fellow can attend courses and programs at the Ecole du Louvre.

All positions are open to all current Wellesley College students. No art history experience necessary! Open positions are listed on WorkDay.
