Aguri Inokuchi (1902)

Miss Aguri Inokuchi Fujita was born in 1870. She attended Wellesley College after coming to the United States in 1899 to study. Inokuchi first attended Smith College, thenin 1900 moved to Boston to study physical education. In 1902, she also spent time at Harvard, studying physical education and Swedish gymnastics.

• Returned to Japan in 1903
• Worked at Jokoshi, was highly influential in developing Swedish gymnastics for Japanese women
• Later sent to England on an observation trip sponsored by the Japanese government

Inokuchi passed away in 1932.
