English Department/Writing Program Internships: Summer 2022
NEW Application procedures:
1) A cover letter explaining what you hope to gain from the internship and how your course work, career goals, and experience are related to the internship. Address the cover letter to the English Dept / Writing Program Internship Committee.
2) Your c.v. or resume.
3) A current Wellesley transcript (unofficial from Workday).
4) The name of a Wellesley faculty member who has agreed to serve as a reference.
5) A short writing sample (no more than 10 pages) that you think best represents your writing skills. The sample can be in any genre of writing, but a brief piece of newspaper reportage does not usually suffice.
Deadline is Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at 11:30 P.M. EST (Boston time). Application materials are submitted electronically in PDF format via Workday. Instructions for the application process can be found here.
Answers to commonly asked questions:
Yes, students abroad can apply. Application materials are now submitted electronically via the above link.
All application materials must be converted into PDF files for submission. Address the cover letter to the English Dept / Writing Program Internship Committee. Applications are read by the Committee, not the internship hosts. If you are applying for more than one internship, one cover letter will suffice; however if you would like to submit more than one cover letter to stress different goals, experience, and course work related to the internships, please combine them into one PDF file.
Choice of writing sample??
You may submit more than one item, but the total should not exceed 10 pages, and they should be combined into one PDF file. Please use your own judgment.
The deadline is firm.
Neither written references nor interviews are ordinarily part of the process; however, the name of a Wellesley College faculty member is required, and some interviewing may occur toward the end of the selection process.
Recipients will be advised in early April.
