Gender Insurrection in Louise de Keralio

Vicki Mistacco is Professor Emerita of French at Wellesley College, where she taught French literature and language from 1968-2013. Her book, Louise de Keralio, Enlightenment Intellectual, offers a reading of Louise de Keralio’s entire body of writing and a new understanding of Keralio as an Enlightenment intellectual and modern feminist thinker. Mistacco challenges the critical commonplace that Keralio was a “sexist republican,” instead emphasizing the anti-patriarchal, anti-hierarchical, and anti-exclusionary ideas at the core of her thinking. The first ten lucky student attendees will receive a free copy of Louise de Keralio. They will also have the opportunity to have their book signed by Prof. Mistacco.
