IDEALS IN EVERYDAY PRACTICES—A GENDERED SPACE?
Chinese society is believed to have experienced important transformations from the Song dynasty on. The investigation of women’s use of objects and efforts at space expansion contributes to tracing the changes and continuities of women’s daily life in this significant era. It adds dimensions to our understanding of women’s history in middle-period China and facilitates the examination of social transition in late imperial China from the perspective of gender studies.
