Wellesley College Organist Erica Johnson to perform a Vivaldi-inspired recital of organ masterpieces.

Wellesley College Organist Erica Johnson presents a recital titled "The Musical Circle of Ferdinando de Medici" on the famed Fisk Organ. Erica will be joined by Music Performance Faculty member Tom Duprey, Jazz and Classical Trumpet instructor, for a program that features works by Vivaldi, Bach, Handel, Zachow, and Scarlatti.

Based in Boston, Erica Johnson is a distinguished organist and educator, serving as College Organist and Instructor of Organ and Harpsichord at Wellesley College since 2019. With a deep passion for 17th-century repertoire, she champions the unique C.B. Fisk organ in Houghton Chapel, inviting the community to experience its rich harmonies and architectural beauty.

Erica’s extensive teaching background includes roles at the UNC School of the Arts, Salem College, and Oberlin Conservatory, along with designing a graduate organ literature course at Eastman. As a former Organ Scholar at Harvard University’s Memorial Church, she continues to share her expertise as Director of Liturgy and Music at Sacred Heart Parish in Newton Centre.

A dedicated advocate for female composers, Erica has curated programs highlighting their contributions to organ music. Her international studies in North Germany led to prestigious honors, including the International Arp Schnitger Prize.

When not performing or teaching, Erica enjoys family outings, long walks, and discovering the best ice cream spots in scenic locales. Join her in celebrating the captivating sound of the organ!
