Modern Dickinson: A Faculty Midweek Muse

Step inside Emily Dickinson’s living room in this immersive concert experience featuring all-21st-century musical settings of her poetry. Surrounded by enlarged manuscripts, family portraits, and period-inspired décor, audiences are drawn into an intimate conversation between Dickinson and her friend T.W. Higginson, exploring war, fame, love, solitude, and nature. Performed by GRAMMY Award-winning artists, Modern Dickinson reimagines Dickinson’s words through a contemporary musical lens in an 85-minute, fourth wall-breaking performance acclaimed as one of Austin’s “Best Arts Events.”

The Wellesley College Music Department Concert Series is proud to feature faculty member Sonja Tengblad, soprano, as she leads this compelling exploration of Dickinson's poetry alongside acclaimed tenor Dann Coakwell and collaborative pianist Michelle Schumann.
