Wellesley College Theatre: William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Directed by Nora Hussey
Apr 19–Apr 22, Sun/Thu/Fri/Sat
Ruth Nagel Jones Theatre

A Midsummer Night’s Dream, William Shakespeare’s perennially popular comedy portrays the adventures of four young lovers, a group of amateur actors, woodland fairies and a duke and duchess. In this final production for Wellesley College Theatre director Nora Hussey, she and her wildly creative team of designers transport the tale to Paris in the 1920s. It is the “crazy years” when Paris dominated as the capital of art, music, literature, and cinema. The story, as told here, involves “lost generation” writers, flappers, and a wildly inept group of itinerant Irish actors. Guaranteed to make your springtime even brighter, this is a production for all ages and sensibilities. Grab a Champagne flute and a balcony seat for this Roaring Twenties escapade.
