The Countess of Pembroke's Masque
Collegium Musicum presents its Fall concert in collaboration with MUS/ENG 229.
Step into the world of Renaissance England with The Countess of Pembroke’s Masque, the culminating performance of MUS/ENG 229 in collaboration with Collegium Musicum. Through music, poetry, and performance, this concert brings to life the voices of remarkable women writers, musicians, and patrons too often overshadowed by the “age of Shakespeare.” Featuring works inspired by Mary Sidney, Aemilia Lanyer, Mary Wroth, Anne Clifford, and their artistic circles, students perform on viola da gambas from Wellesley’s collection to recreate the vibrant cultural life of England’s great houses.
This event is free and open to the public.
