Diana Chapman Walsh Alumnae Hall 201 Auditorium

The goal of our spring show is to promote the understanding and appreciation of wushu, especially with regard to its roots in Chinese and Asian culture. We will be showcasing multiple acts by Wellesley Wushu, exploring a diverse array of wushu weapons and forms such as straight sword, broadsword, hook sword, pudao, spear, staff, chain, double fan, flag, rouliqiu, fuchen, duilian with shield, Southern fist form, and fighting routines. Our choreography will incorporate both traditional martial art forms and modern creative and entertaining action scenes. Moreover, we will use wushu to explore and express our story. The themes in this story are important and highly relevant to the Wellesley audience, as we believe that Wellesley students are often faced with many decisions to make or paths they feel they are required to follow, and through this performance we hope to explore when and how one’s fate can be taken into one’s own hands.
