Jennifer Carr holds a PhD in French literature and has additional training in translation and second language acquisition. Her research focuses on contemporary French fiction, with a particular emphasis on experimental writing practices and feminist thought. Other interests include cultural representations of gender, theories and practices of translation, and the intersection of literature and the visual arts. She is also committed to inclusive language pedagogy that centers the cultural, racial, and geographic diversity of the French-speaking world. Her current book project shows how contemporary French women writers have used constrained writing techniques to interrogate gender and sexual identity, furthering materialist feminist insights into the constructed-ness of social categories through structurally and formally inventive prose.
