Visiting Lecturer in German Studies

Visiting Lecturer in German Studies. Teaching and research centers on the issue of diversity and examines how early modern German texts may inform current debates about authenticity and transgender identity.

Anh Nguyen received her Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from Johns Hopkins University. Before joining the Wellesley German Department, she has taught at Harvard University, Smith College, MIT, and Tufts University. During the 2016-17 academic year, she was a Visiting Associate at the Center for Literacy and Cultural Research in Berlin. Dr. Nguyen’s teaching and research interests revolve around the issue of diversity. Her dissertation (2014) examines how early modern German texts may inform current debates about authenticity and transgender identity. Recent conference presentations address the place of multilingual texts in the classroom as well as the question of how to foster translingual and transcultural competence by bringing diversity into the classroom.
